RTI training to Public Information Officers begins

Freedom Forum began its sixth phase of 3-days training on Right to Information to Public Information Officers (PIOs) in Dhulikhel, Kavre today (August 27, 2018).

Total 21 Information Officers of different public offices from Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Kavre and Makwanpur districts are participating in the training organized under the project “Civil Society Mutual Accountability Project (CS: MAP)”, supported by USAID and implemented by FHI360. Among 21 participants, two are female Public Information Officers.

More than 50% participants are from local level and the remaining represent District Administrative Office and District Election Commission Office of districts Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Kavre and Makwanpur.

During the training, RTI Expert Dharmendra Jha and Chief Executive of Freedom Forum Taranath Dahal will shed light on the concepts, basic principles, constitutional and legal provisions and trends of RTI.

Freedom Forum has been conducting such trainings at various Provinces with an objective to hold PIOs accountable and improve practice of proactive disclosure at local levels thus, building informed citizenry.

Earlier, such trainings were conducted at Dhangadhi of Province 7, Surkhet of Karnali Province, Dang and Kapilvastu of Province 5, Bhaktapur of Province 3.
